Of Pomp and Circumstance…

*

A crown too heavy to wear.

Incline the head but a little

And the neck will break…

*

Who, then, runs to retrieve our baubled circlet?

Its lifeless-jewels spill…

Cascade across

A stony floor.

*

There was a time

When gold was valued

For its conducive properties.
