The Dance of Fire and Water…

Circle – Sun – Spirit

*

… After satisfactorily explaining

the nature of the Earthly Realm,

The Alchemists turned their attentions to the stars…

Crescent – Moon – Soul

*

To those heavenly bodies

which seemingly ‘wandered’ across the fixed backdrop of the constellations,

they gave the generic name planets,

and held them in especial reverence.

Cross – Earth – Body-Matter

*

The symbolic system they developed

to designate the planetary beings

also linked them to the human psyche.

  1. What is a sacred thing about all of this, and a true miracle is that despite whatever man is doing on the earth, there are amazing principles of alchemy, and principles of all things that continue despite whatever attempts are made to end them.

I love the phrase and practice of Wabi Sabi. Wabi Sabi reminds us that we are all transient beings on this planet—that our bodies, as well as the material world around us, are in the process of returning to dust. Nature’s cycles of growth, decay, and erosion are embodied in frayed edges, rust, liver spots. Through Wabi Sabi, we learn to embrace both the glory and the melancholy found in these marks of passing time. To me, this seems compatible with what we are learning in The Sacred Eye. There are many good practices that we can take some good from and incorporate it into our overall belief system. I made an art quilt for Wabi Sabi, and perhaps I can find a way to share it somehow sometime.

      1. Thank you kindly Robbie. It is very appreciated. It is wonderful to meet all of the nice people in this study or who have perhaps already been through it.

  2. Something came to me this morning thinking about alchemy. It is the word transformation, and suddenly everything began to come together as if I were making a wonderful new recipe in my head. Yes, alchemy is the magic, and transformation is the result. It is not just transformation of the elements, but alchemy of our souls. The Gods understood all of these things. They were able to transform themselves from those who worked the world like the humans to those who were Gods of different things of our world, and they are still here after thousands of years in some form. We remember them and we talk about them and write about them. And to the degree that mankind is capable of such things, we protect them and they remain sacred. I am not sure where all of this is leading. I just know that yesterday I got lost trying to get home on the freeway and streets from another town where I was taking my training as a volunteer, and today I woke up knowing this somehow. I think that it is something truly incredible, and I feel very happy, not fully understanding, but feeling as though this world is full of potentials no matter what things may look like and how lost we might feel at any given time.
